La Tardière is a French commune with 1,312 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Vendée department in the Pays de la Loire region ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Fontenay-le-Comte and the canton of La Châtaigneraie . The inhabitants are called Tardiérois or Outardien .

La Tardière is about 52 kilometers east of La Roche-sur-Yon . La Tardière is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Pierre-du-Chemin in the north, Breuil-Barret in the east, La Châtaigneraie in the south, Saint-Maurice-le-Girard in the south-west and Cheffois in the west and north-west.
