Historical development

In 1974 the SIVOM du Bocage de la Châtaigneraie was formed, which comprised 14 municipalities. In addition, there was the SIVOM du Pays de Pareds , which consisted of four parishes. Both were united on December 28, 1989 and converted into a Communauté de communes on December 28, 2000.

The tasks of the community association include economic development, environmental protection and the maintenance of sports, cultural institutions and schools.
