Lower Vogthaus

The Untervogthaus is a historic building in Gränichen in the canton of Aargau . It is located on Lochgasse south of the village center and is a cultural asset of national importance under monument protection. The building served as the residence of the local under bailiff appointed by Bern (until 1798 Gränichen belonged to the city ​​and republic of Bern ).

The building, erected in the 17th century, is a three-storey, plastered wall construction with pilaster-like corner blocks, which is designed as a pillar on the ground floor. Carved struts (arches) support a hipped roof with a gable roof . On both long sides there are entrances with round arches , whereby the western one is marked with the year 1674. Inside there are early baroque buffets from the early 17th century.
