Saint-Hilaire-la-Palud is a French commune with 1,540 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Deux-Sèvres in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Niort and the canton of Mignon-et-Boutonne (until 2015: Canton of Mauzé-sur-le-Mignon ).

Saint-Hilaire-la-Palud is the westernmost commune of the Deux-Sèvres department. It is located about 35 kilometers east-northeast of La Rochelle and about 20 kilometers west-southwest of Niort . Numerous canals run through the municipality (including the Canal de Forge and the Grande Rigol ) as part of the Marais Poitevin . Saint-Hilaire-la-Palud is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Damvix in the north, Arçais in the northeast, Saint-Georges-de-Rex in the east, Le Bourdet in the southeast, Prin-Deyrançon in the south and southeast, Cramchaban in the south, La Grève- sur-Mignon in the west and La Ronde in the northwest.
