Romans is a French municipality with 708 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Deux-Sèvres in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Niort and the Canton of Saint-Maixent-l'École (until 2015: Canton of Saint-Maixent-l'École-2 ). The inhabitants are called Romanais .

geography

Romans is about 18 kilometers east-northeast of Niort . The small river Hermitain limits the municipality to the north. Romans is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Martin-de-Saint-Maixent in the north and northeast, Souvigné in the east, Prailles-La Couarde with Prailles in the south and southeast, Aigonnay in the south and southwest and Sainte-Néomaye in the west.

The A10 autoroute runs through the municipality .
