La Chapelle-Bâton is a French municipality with 398 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Deux-Sèvres in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (before 2016: Poitou-Charentes ). It belongs to the Arrondissement of Niort and the canton of Autize-Égray (until 2015: canton of Champdeniers-Saint-Denis ). The inhabitants are called chapellois .

La Chapelle-Bâton is located about 20 kilometers north-northeast of Niort . La Chapelle-Bâton is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Mazières-en-Gâtine in the north, Verruyes in the northeast, Auge in the east and southeast, Cherveux in the south, Saint-Christophe-sur-Roc in the west and southwest and Champdeniers in the west.
