Saint-Coutant is a French commune in the department of Deux-Sèvres in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine with an area of 1194 hectares and 283 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017). Saint-Coutant is a municipality in the canton of Celles-sur-Belle .

Saint-Coutant is located about 380 km south of Paris and 120 km east of the Atlantic ( La Rochelle ) on the prime meridian . The altitude is 140 meters above sea level .
history
The old Roman road from Poitiers to Saintes runs through Saint-Coutant. The church and the old pastory were destroyed during the wars of religion and later rebuilt by the Abbey of Clémont.
