Sepvret is located in the historic Poitou countryside , about 30 kilometers east of the city of Niort . Neighboring communities are Prailles-La Couarde with La Couarde and Beaussais-Vitré in the west, Saint-Léger-de-la-Martinière in the south, Chey in the east and Exoudun in the north.

The 158 km long Sèvre Niortaise river has its source in the municipality .
