Chérigné is a French municipality with 147 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Deux-Sèvres in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (before 2016 Poitou-Charentes ). It belongs to the Arrondissement of Niort and the canton of Mignon-et-Boutonne ( Brioux-sur-Boutonne until 2015 ).

Chérigné is about 38 kilometers southeast of Niort . Chérigné is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Lusseray in the north, Luché-sur-Brioux in the north and northeast, Fontenille-Saint-Martin-d'Entraigues in the east, Paizay-le-Chapt in the south, Asnières-en-Poitou in the west and southwest as well Brioux-sur-Boutonne in the north-west.
