It belongs to the Arrondissement of Niort and is part of the canton of Mignon-et-Boutonne ( Brioux-sur-Boutonne until 2015 ).

Lusseray is about 40 kilometers southeast of Niort . Lusseray is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Paizay-le-Tort in the north and west, Tillou in the north-east, Luché-sur-Brioux in the east, Chérigné in the south and south-west and Brioux-sur-Boutonne in the west and south-west.
