Montalembert is a French municipality with 302 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Deux-Sèvres in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (before 2016 Poitou-Charentes ). It belongs to the Arrondissement of Niort and is part of the canton of Melle ( Sauzé-Vaussais until 2015 ).

Montalembert is located about 55 kilometers east-southeast of Niort . Montalembert is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Limalonges in the north, Saint-Macoux in the east and northeast, Voulême in the east, Les Adjots in the southeast, Saint-Martin-du-Clocher in the south, Londigny in the west and southwest and Sauzé in the west and northwest.
