The Communauté de communes de Poitou Mellois is a French association of municipalities with the legal form of a Communauté de communes in the department of Deux-Sèvres in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . It was founded on November 30, 2016 and currently comprises 62 parishes. The administrative seat is in the municipality of Melle .

Historical development

The community association was created with effect from January 1, 2017 through the merger of the predecessor organizations

• Communauté de communes de Celles-sur-Belle ,
• Communauté de communes du Cœur du Poitou ,
• Communauté de communes du Mellois and
• Communauté de communes du Val de Boutonne

with the simultaneous establishment of the Communes nouvelles Alloinay and Mougon-Thorigné .

The association, originally founded as Communauté de communes du Cellois, Cœur du Poitou, Mellois et du Val de Boutonne , was renamed to its current name with effect from January 1, 2018.

With effect from January 1, 2019, the following mergers were carried out by member communities:

• Mougon-Thorigné , Aigonnay and Sainte-Blandine → Aigondigné
• Celles-sur-Belle and Saint-Médard → Celles-sur-Belle
• Chef-Boutonne , La Bataille , Crézières and Tillou → Chef-Boutonne
• Chail and Sompt → Fontivillié
• Saint-Génard and Pouffonds → Marcillé
• Melle , Mazières-sur-Béronne , Paizay-le-Tort , Saint-Léger-de-la-Martinière and Saint-Martin-lès-Melle → Melle
• Prailles and La Couarde → Prailles-La Couarde
• Hanc , Ardilleux , Bouin and Pioussay → Valdelaume
