Saint-Génard is a village with 351 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the French municipality of Marcillé in Deux-Sevres in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (before 2016 Poitou-Charentes ).

The formerly independent municipality of Saint-Génard was merged with Pouffonds on January 1, 2019 to form the Commune nouvelle Marcillé. Since then it has had the status of a Commune déléguée . It belonged to the canton of Melle in the Arrondissement of Niort .

geography

Saint-Génard is located about 27 kilometers southeast of Niort . The municipality of Saint-Génard was surrounded by the neighboring municipalities of Melle in the north and northwest, Pouffonds in the north, Chail in the east and northeast, Sompt in the east and southeast, Tillou in the south, Paizay-le-Tort in the west and southwest, Mazières-sur- Béronne in the west and Saint-Martin-lès-Melle in the north-west.
