Sompt is a commune Déléguée in the French community Fontivillié with 358 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the French Deux-Sevres in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine .

The municipality of Sompt merged with Chail on January 1, 2019 to form the Commune nouvelle Fontivillié. Since then it has had the status of a Commune déléguée. The municipality of Sompt belonged to the canton of Melle in the Arrondissement of Niort . It bordered in the northwest on Saint-Génard , in the northeast on Chail and Maisonnay , in the southeast on Alloinay with Gournay-Loizé and in the southwest on Tillou .
