Gournay-Loizé is a former French commune with the last 599 inhabitants (2014) in the department of Deux-Sèvres in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . Gournay-Loizé is the capital of the Commune nouvelle Alloinay .

Neighboring towns are Sompt in the northwest, Maisonnay in the north, Saint-Vincent-la-Châtre in the northeast, Les Alleuds in the east, Melleran in the southeast, Ardilleux in the south, Chef-Boutonne in the southwest and Tillou in the west.

history

The municipality was created in 1973 from the merger of the previous municipalities of Gournay and Loizé.

With effect from January 1, 2017, it was merged with Les Alleuds to form Commune nouvelle Alloinay. The municipality of Gournay-Loizé belonged to the Arrondissement Niort and the canton of Melle .
