Xaintray (1793 still with the spelling Xainterais , 1801 Xiantrais ) is a French commune in the department of Deux-Sèvres in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . It belongs to the Arrondissement Niort and the municipal association Val de Gâtine . It has 223 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017).

geography

Xaintray is located on the Autise in a flat to gently hilly area, about 20 kilometers north of Niort and about 80 kilometers east of the Atlantic coast at an altitude between 50 and 127 m above sea level. The municipality covers 11.15 km².

Xaintray includes the districts of Pied Mollet, La Servantière, Bénette, Pichenin and La Rainerie . Neighboring communities of Xaintray are Fenioux in the north, Pamplie in the northeast, Surin in the southeast and Béceleuf in the south and west.

Economy and Infrastructure

Six farms are located in the municipality (grain cultivation, dairy farming, cattle, goat and sheep breeding, pig farming).

Xaintray is located away from important national transport routes. Twelve kilometers to the south-east there is a connection to the A 83 autoroute from Nantes to Niort . The city of Niort, 20 kilometers to the south, is a rail and road junction.
