Menachem ben Jacob ben Solomon ben Menachem
Menachem ben Jakob ben Solomon ben Menachem , also: Menachem von Worms (died: April 16, 1203 in Worms ), became famous for his synagogal poetry. His funerary inscription describes him as a "lawyer, preacher and poet".
Life
His teacher was Efraim ben Isaac approx. (1110–1175).
Lamentations in particular have survived from Menachem. One of his poems is about a brief siege of Worms by Emperor Otto IV from February 10-13, 1201. Then the Jewish community of Worms also took up arms and took part in the defense of the city. In addition, Menachem was a specialist in halacha . A catalog raisonné with 33 items is published by Zunz.
Menachem was buried in the Jewish cemetery in Worms, the Holy Sand . The tombstone is preserved.
