Laura Ruth Harrier (born March 28, 1990 in Chicago , Illinois ) is an American actress and model .

Career

Laura Harrier was born in Chicago as one of two children to an insurance worker and a speech therapist . She graduated from high school in the city of Evanston in the US state of Illinois . After finishing school, she initially aspired to a modeling career and therefore moved to New York City at the age of 18 . Soon after, however, she switched to acting and therefore enrolled at the William Esper Studio . Her wish was mainly shaped by the work of the filmmaker Spike Lee .

Harrier has been an actress since 2013 and was first seen in the soap opera Love, Lies, Passion as Destiny Evans . In 2014 she made a guest appearance on the series Unforgettable .

In 2017, she took on the role of Liz Allan in the Marvel remake Spider-Man: Homecoming . Also in 2017 she appeared as Patrice Dumas in a supporting role in BlacKkKlansman of her idol Spike Lee. In 2019 she took on the leading female role in the drama Balance, Not Symmetry , a modern version of William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet . In 2020 she took on a leading role in the role of actress Camille Washington in the Netflix miniseries Hollywood .

In addition to acting, Harrier is also active as a model from time to time. She has already worked for brands such as L'Oréal , Louis Vuitton and Target .
