Zazie Olivia Beetz (* 1991 in Berlin ) is a German - American actress .
Life
Beetz was born in Berlin as the daughter of a German cabinet maker and an American social worker . She has a younger brother. Your paternal grandparents live in Berlin-Lichtenberg .
She grew up in the Washington Heights district of New York and in Berlin-Charlottenburg . In her childhood she spent every summer vacation with her family in the Allgäu. Until 2009, Beetz attended Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School , which focuses on art and drama , where she gained her first experience in the theater sector. She then studied French and literature at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs until May 2013 .
From 2013, she made her first appearances in short films. She became known to a larger audience from 2016 through her leading role in the television series Atlanta . This was followed by a role in the Netflix series Easy . In the 2018 comic book adaptation of Deadpool 2 , she starred alongside Ryan Reynolds and Josh Brolin as the superhero Domino . The following year she played the role of Sophie Dumond in Joker, alongside Joaquin Phoenix .
At the end of June 2020, Beetz became a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences . Beetz lives in New York City . She is fluent in German, French and English.
