An Annual ( Engl. For "Yearbook") is a magazine , a book or a comic book , which is published annually. Individual episodes from weekly or monthly magazines or comic series are compiled and published in a volume. An annual can have a theme or honor a specific artist.

Many American comics publish annuals as a supplement to the regular ongoing series, such as Captain America or the Teen Titans . These annuals are often more extensive than the regular editions of the respective series, and their plot is usually not part of the current narrative thread of the series, but rather self-contained. An annual often contains several completed stories, often by different teams of authors. This means that annuals are sometimes more adventurous than regular editions.
