Steve Bacic , actually Stjepan Bačić , (born March 13, 1965 in Lisičić , Yugoslavia ) is a Canadian actor of Croatian origin. He was best known worldwide for his role as Gaheris / Telemachus Rhade in Andromeda .

Private

Bacic's family immigrated to Canada when he was two and a half years old. He grew up in Windsor ( Ontario on), a Canadian working-class city. He has been an actor since 1991. Steve Bacic is married and has three children. His son, Steven David Bacic, already starred at his side in the episode "Coming Through Fog" in The Guard . Steve also plays in the short film The Ambassador with his children Steven David and Emma Bacic. He is an avid athlete who participates in marathons, snowboards, and enjoys playing basketball and golf. Bacic often attends conventions and was also present at FedCon 17 in Bonn.

Career

After graduating from school, Bacic went to university, where he graduated as a physiotherapist . For some time he worked in a factory, at the age of 25 he had his own company. But since he didn't really like either one or the other, Bacic moved to Vancouver a year later and took acting lessons there. At the time he was working as a waiter, he met Ethan Hawke and Stephen Dorff , who gave him a few small appearances in films.

He got his first real guest role in the series 21 Jump Street - Tatort Klassenzimmer in the episode "Poisoned" (season 5, episode 100). In the following years appearances in Highlander , Dark Angel , The X-Files , Stargate SG-1 , Mutant X , CSI: Miami , Emergency Room and Flash Gordon followed .

In addition to television roles, he had appearances in the films The 6th Day and Ballistic . He had success with the series Andromeda , in the last two seasons of which he played a leading role as Telemachus Rade . After Andromeda ended , Bacic got another lead role in The Guard , a series about the Canadian Coast Guard.

Bacic is not only active in front of the camera, in 2004 he wrote the independent film Teacher , which he produced and acted himself.

  • For the episode "Coming Through Fog" ("The Guard", Season 1, Episode 3) Steve Bacic was nominated for the Leo Award 2008 as "Best Lead Performance by a Male in a Dramatic Series" .
  • For the episode "At Sea" ("The Guard", season 2, episode 8), Steve Bacic was nominated for the 2009 Leo Award as "Best Lead Performance by a Male in a Dramatic Series" .
