Republic of Doyle - Einsatz für Zwei (Original title: Republic of Doyle ) is a Canadian drama series broadcast by CBC about a father and son who run a private detective agency together in St. John's ( Newfoundland ) . The idea for the television series came from Allan Hawco , who also portrays one of the protagonists of the television series as Jake Doyle . The television series was first broadcast on January 6, 2010 on the Canadian broadcaster CBC. In Germany, the television series has been broadcast on 13th Street Universal since October 16, 2013 .

Malachy Doyle owns a private investigation agency in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador . After his son Jake is left by his wife, he moves back in with him and from then on the two of them work together as private detectives . Another person in the league is Malachy's second wife, Rose Miller. Furthermore, the 16-year-old daughter of Malachy's daughter Kathleen, Katrina "Tinny", lives with the three of them.

The filming location of the television series is the Canadian location of St. John's in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador . Allan Hawco serves as both the lead actor and executive producer , screenwriter and producer .

In 2013 there was a so-called crossover between Republic of Doyle and Murdoch Mysteries . Hawco appeared in one episode of Murdoch Mysteries as Jacob Doyle , an ancestor of Jake Doyle , while Yannick Bisson appeared in January 2014 as Bill Murdoch , a descendant of William Murdoch .

The broadcast of the sixth season began on October 15, 2014. In May 2014 it was announced that this would be the last season.
