Ballistic (Original title: Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever ) is an American action film from 2002 . The director was Wych Kaosayananda , who previously made a successful film in his native Thailand . The script was written by Alan B. McElroy , with Antonio Banderas and Lucy Liu in the lead roles .

Robert Gant's son is kidnapped. The FBI then asks his former agent Jeremiah Ecks to investigate the case, since his family members are involved. He finds out that the kidnapper must be one of the orphans that the Defense Intelligence Agency adopts and trains to be unscrupulous agents. He also learns that Robert Gant - also an agent of the DIA - stole a dangerous microrobot in Berlin that can operate in a person's bloodstream and kill them in response to an external signal. B. by triggering a heart attack - without the actual cause of death becoming apparent.
Robert Gant is married to Vinn, who was previously married to Ecks. Gant managed to fake the death of the spouse in front of the other person. Another gruesome crime was the killing of the husband and child of his colleague Sever, who now kidnapped Gant's son Michael in revenge. The stolen robot was smuggled into North America in the child's bloodstream. Incidentally, it turns out that Ecks, not Gant, is the child's father. Sever succeeds in extracting the robot from the boy's body and implanting Gant. When Gant enters the kidnapper's hiding place with a rescue squad, she activates the deadly function of the mini-weapon inside his organism via a transmitter. Your former boss collapses dead. He saw her agent activity, which had preceded her many years of training, impaired by her role as a mother. So he had her family killed in an air strike. Sever was a particularly valuable employee, as she was endowed with enormous skills, which she proved in the kidnapping case. However, she could not get over the loss of her own child brought about by Gant. Gant's death alone gives her satisfaction.
Ecks is reunited with his wife and son.

The film is described as one of the worst films of all time, partly because the characters remained pale. In a vote on the Rotten Tomatoes website , the film was voted # 1 of the worst rated films of the first decade of the 21st century.

The roles of Ecks and Sever were originally intended to play two men, first Wesley Snipes and Jet Li , then Vin Diesel and Sylvester Stallone . The computer game Ecks vs. Sever from 2001 .
The shooting took place in Vancouver , Canada . So was z. B. used the company premises of Fibreco Export Inc. in the north of the city. The last shot gives a view over Vancouver Harbor to the Lions Gate Bridge in the west and Stanley Park on the opposite bank. The Vancouver Aquarium , where Vinn and Ecks meet again, is also located in the area of Stanley Park.
