Arctir Air is a Canadian television adventure drama series that aired on CBC Television between 2012 and 2014 . The series is about a small Canadian airline.
action
Arctic Air is a small air transport company based in Yellowknife, Canada . It is directed by Mel Ivarson ( Kevin McNulty ), an elderly and experienced pilot. After the death of his old partner, his partner becomes his son Bobby Martin ( Adam Beach ), who returns to Yellowknife at the beginning of the series. Ivarson's daughter Krista ( Pascale Hutton ) also works as a pilot for Arctic Air.
With the now aging Douglas DC-3 and de Havilland Canada DHC-3 aircraft, the pilots transport freight and passengers to distant places in the endless expanses of the north of Canada. One or more flight missions are shown in each episode.
production
The series is created by Canadian Ian Weir and executive producers are Michael Chechik, Gabriela Schonbach, Ian Weir and Gary Harvey.
Arctic Air is produced by Omni Film Productions together with CBC. The Canada Media Fund , COGECO Production Development Fund, The Province of British Columbia Incentive BC and the Canadian Film and Video Production Tax Credit Program participated in the financing .
Filming for the series began on September 6, 2011. The film was shot in various locations in Vancouver and on location in Yellowknife. Indoor recordings are filmed in soundstages in the Lower Mainland region near Vancouver. There are also the aircraft cockpits, in which the flight scenes are filmed. These recordings will later be digitally linked with recordings of the Canadian Arctic.
In April 2012, the production of a second season was announced. The shooting took place between July and December 2012. About once a month, the cast and crew flew to Yellowknife to take several days of outdoor shots on site. In April 2013 it was announced that CBC had renewed the series for a third season.
During the broadcast of that season in March 2014, it was announced that the station would not renew the series for a fourth season.
Charisma
The first season of Arctic Air aired between January 10 and March 13, 2012 every Tuesday at 9:00 p.m. on CBC Television.
