Nolinor Aviation is a Canadian charter and cargo airline based in Mirabel that was founded in 1992.
history
The Nolinor, founded in 1992, has Boeing 737-200s, which are equipped with the Unpaved Strip Kits (also Gravel Kits ) , which Boeing no longer offers for later versions, for take-off and landing on unpaved runways, which are primarily intended for use on many Airfields in the north of Canada are required.
This special equipment consists, among other things, of special metal sheets on the landing gear to keep ballast away from the fuselage, reinforcements in the fuselage, special tires and special tubes on the engines that expel bleed air in such a way that no foreign bodies can get into the engine through air turbulence.
Modernization of the B 737-200
In June 2018, Nolinor Aviation decided to modernize ten 737-200s, including with " glass cockpits ", inertial navigation systems (INS), flight management systems (FMS) and automatic dependent surveillance (ADS). In addition to the seven own machines at the time, three more 737-200s are to be purchased and converted.
The main advantage is expected to be the considerable extension of the service life of this only version of the 737, which can be equipped with the gravel kits required in the Nolinor network . In addition, a massive reduction in maintenance costs is expected through the conversion from analog to digital systems. The company assumes that the aircraft, some of which are more than 40 years old, can now be operated for another 25 years. Since May 31, 2018, the first modernized machine has been used "without problems".
