CanJet Airlines was a Canadian charter airline based in Halifax .

history

CanJet was founded in 1999 and began flight operations in 2000. Scheduled flights were also part of the program until September 10, 2006, but these were then discontinued in favor of charter traffic.

For the winter season, the German TUIfly leased several of its Boeing 737-800s to CanJet Airlines from December 8, 2007, February 9, 2008 and January 24, 2010, all of which retained their livery. In its history, CanJet operated aircraft of the Boeing 737-200, -300 and -500 series as well as the Boeing 737-800, which was operated until the end.

In April 2015, CanJet announced that it would lay off 70 percent of its staff for economic reasons and shut down five of six aircraft. Reasons for this are the bad business with the vacation packages offered since 2014 and the loss of a leasing contract with Air Transat . In September 2015, flight operations were finally ceased and all pilots and flight attendants were dismissed.

aims

From 2006 CanJet no longer offered regular scheduled flights. Charter flights were offered, for example for tour operators, within North America as well as to the Caribbean and South America .

fleet

In the end, the fleet consisted of six Boeing 737-800s , five of which had already been decommissioned in April 2015. The average age of the aircraft was 13.5 years.
