Air Georgian is a Canadian airline based in Mississauga . It runs its operations on behalf of Air Canada together with other companies under the Air Canada Express umbrella brand .
history
Air Georgian was founded in Orillia, Ontario in 1994 . In December 1994, it took over four Cessna 208s , with which operations began. Initially, the company operated as a cargo airline . Her first passenger aircraft was a Beechcraft King Air , which she received in April 1995. The first Beechcraft 1900 added to the fleet in November 1996. In 1997, the company entered into a cooperation with Canadian Airlines International and provided feeder traffic for them under the Canadian Partners brand identity . At the beginning of 1999 the fleet consisted of one Beechcraft King Air, seven Cessna 208B and eleven Beechcraft 1900D.
As a result of the takeover of Canadian Airlines by Air Canada , the company became a cooperation partner of this company. In the period that followed, Air Georgian operated regional scheduled flights for Air Canada until 2011 under the Air Alliance brand and then as Air Canada Express . In September 2013, the parent companies of Air Georgian and Regional 1 Airlines merged to form the Holding Regional Express Aviation Limited (REAL), with the two airlines remaining as their own companies . Air Georgian then continued the cooperation with Air Canada and took over its first jet aircraft in spring 2014 with a Bombardier CRJ100 .

- On January 17, 2004, a Cessna 208B Grand Caravan of the Georgian Express (C-FAGA) crashed onto the frozen surface of Lake Erie shortly after taking off from Pelee Island for a flight to Windsor .
