Cargo airlines ( English cargo airlines are) carriers for the transport of air freight . Your customers are predominantly international freight forwarders . For transporting special are cargo aircraft or the lower decks of passenger aircraft ( belly capacity , belly capacity ) is used. Today's large-capacity passenger aircraft allow in some cases a very high cargo load on the lower deck (e.g. Boeing 777-300ER up to 25 t), so that the use of pure cargo aircraft is no longer necessary. Esp. within Europe, trucks and cargo in passenger planes have replaced cargo planes.

A distinction is made between pure cargo airlines (so-called “all-cargo”) and those cargo airlines that are part of a larger passenger airline (for example Lufthansa Cargo , a subsidiary of Lufthansa ). The world's largest all-cargo service provider is FedEx ( USA ). The largest European all-cargo company is the Luxembourgish Cargolux .
