AHK Air Hong Kong Limited ( Chinese 香港 華 民 航空 ) is a Chinese cargo airline based in Hong Kong and based at Hong Kong International Airport .
history
Air Hong Kong was founded in 1986 and started operations two years later in February 1988. The first machine in the fleet was a Boeing 707 . The first scheduled flights were flown in 1989. Then two Boeing 747-100Fs and two Boeing 747-200Fs that were in use until 2004 were added to the fleet. In June 1994, Cathay Pacific acquired a 75 percent stake in the company, followed by the remaining 25% in February 2002. In October of the same year, Cathay Pacific decided (in cooperation with DHL ) that Air Hong Kong would provide an express freight service. Network served in Asia. For this reason, DHL has acquired a 30% stake in the airline. It was decided to equip the fleet exclusively with Airbus A300-600GF . Thus Air Hong Kong was the first customer of this type of aircraft. The eighth and so far last aircraft with the aircraft registration B-LDH entered the fleet on June 28, 2006. At the same time, Air Hong Kong has decided to join the company's Maintenance Cost Per Hour (MCPH) program. The company is 60% owned by Cathay Pacific and 40% by DHL.
Destinations
The airline specializes in the transport of regional night mail and express parcels. Only freight from and for DHL is transported. It flies from Hong Kong International Airport to destinations in East and Southeast Asia .
