ABX Air is a US cargo airline based in Clinton County near Wilmington , Ohio and based at the Airborne Airpark there .

history

The company took off on its first flight on April 17, 1980, at that time as part of its predecessor Airborne Express . The parent company of ABX Air, the Air Transport Services Group , also includes the cargo airlines Air Transport International and Capital Cargo International Airlines . In March 2003 DHL bought Airborne Express, which led to the division: Airborne Express Ground Operations, which was incorporated into DHL, as well as the now independent ABX Air, whose fleet at that time consisted of some Douglas DC-8s and Boeing 767-200s . By 2008 all DC-8s were retired and replaced by Boeing 767s.

Destinations

ABX Air operates scheduled cargo flights as well as ad hoc charter and ACMI cargo services within the USA, Canada and Puerto Rico . In addition, the cargo planes are also leased to other companies and airlines , one major customer is DHL .
