Air Wisconsin Airlines Corporation is an American regional airline based in Appleton, Wisconsin . Air Wisconsin's main base is the Outagamie County Regional Airport in Greenville, Wisconsin, near Appleton. She flew for US Airways under the US Airways Express brand . Today the aircraft are operated for American Eagle .

history

Air Wisconsin was founded in 1965 to connect Appleton with Chicago , and the route network was later expanded across the United States. This happened through mergers with the airlines Mississippi Valley Airlines in 1985 and Aspen Airways in 1991. In 1993 Air Wisconsin was bought by private investors.

Air Wisconsin pioneered code sharing with United Express , operated its fleet of regional jets under the United Express name, and became the largest regional airline in the 1980s. They flew as a feeder for AirTran under the name AirTran JetConnect , this cooperation was discontinued in July 2004, as was the cooperation with United Airlines in April 2006.

Air Wisconsin flies only regional and feeder flights for US Airways under the umbrella brand US Airways Express after Air Wisconsin invested 175 million US dollars in US Airways. She has stations in Philadelphia , Washington National and Norfolk / Virginia.

As a result of the merger between US Airways and American Airlines , which was initiated in 2013 , the company is now operating on behalf of American Eagle .
