Mokulele Airlines is a US regional airline based in Kailua-Kona , Hawaii and a subsidiary of Southern Airways Express . The name is Hawaiian and means flying ship .

history

In 1998 Mokulele Flight Service was founded by Kawehi Inaba. In 2005 the airline was taken over by Boyer Industries, whose director Bill Boyer, Jr. is in the baggage handling business and became the airline's CEO .

Since 2007 there has been a cooperation regarding the route network and marketing with go! who have been together under the common brand go! Mokulele occur.

As of February 2019: There are partnership agreements with Alaska Airlines and Air New Zealand .

On February 8, 2019, Mokulele Airlines was bought by Southern Airways Express .

In June 2020 it was announced that Mokulele will merge with Makani Kai Air , based in Honolulu . The new company will operate jointly under the name Mokulele Airlines in the future. Makani Kai's Founder and President, Richard Schuman, will serve as Executive Vice President at Mokulele Airlines.

Destinations

Mokulele Airlines offers flights between the islands of Hawaii , Maui , Lānaʻi , Molokaʻi and Oʻahu within Hawaii as well as flights from Los Angeles to Imperial in California .

fleet

As of February 2019, the Mokulele Airlines fleet consists of 14 Cessna 208 Grand Caravans and two PC-12s . The two PC-12 propeller planes are only used on the Honolulu - Lānaʻi route.
