The Phoenix Air Group, Inc. (trading as Phoenix Air is) an American charter airline headquartered in Cartersville , Georgia .
history
The Phoenix Air Group was founded in Atlanta in 1978 as a demand airline and started operations with two Beechcraft Model 18 aircraft . Other small aircraft, including the Piper PA-31 , added to the fleet in the years that followed. From the mid-1980s, the company continued business aircraft type Learjet 23 a.
Order services (ad hoc charter), freight transport and ambulance flights for private customers or companies are carried out under the name Phoenix Air . Major customers now include various US federal agencies and ministries. In 2011, the company received approximately US $ 46 million in government contracts.
In 2013, Phoenix Air won a tender from the Department of Health and Human Services . As a result, two Gulfstream III ambulances were equipped with enlarged doors and a biological protection level 4 system, making them suitable for transporting recumbent patients with highly infectious diseases. Incidents
- On January 8, 1988, a Learjet 36A crashed while approaching Memphis Airport , killing the crew.
- On December 14, 1994, a Learjet 35A caught fire, killing the crew.
- On December 3, 2002, a Learjet 36 crashed into a moose while taking off from Astoria Airport . The take-off was canceled, but the aircraft did not come to a stop about 55 meters after the runway and was destroyed by a subsequent fire. The crew and the two passengers were not harmed.
