New England Airlines is a US regional airline based in Westerly , Rhode Island . In the south of Rhode Island, it operates regional air traffic to the offshore Block Island and charter operations to the neighboring states. The partner is New England Airlines, Inc., headed by William Bendokas as President.

history

The company was founded in 1970 and began flight operations in the same year. On November 28, 1989, a New England Airlines BN-2 Islander plane crashed into the sea seven kilometers northwest of Block Island during a charter flight to Westerly. All eight occupants, seven passengers and one crew member, were killed. The cause of the crash could not be determined.
