Aklak Air is a Canadian airline based in Inuvik . It operates a year-round and seasonal route network in northwest Canada. In addition, charter flights to the western arctic are offered. The main base is at Inuvik Mike Zubko Airport .
history
Aklak Air was founded in 1977 and began flight operations in 1978. In 1994 Aklak Air and Kenn Borek Air signed a joint venture agreement. This gave Aklak Air access to the Kenn Borek Air fleet when needed. Aklak Air is wholly owned by the Inuvialuit Joint Venture Company .
Destinations
Aklak Air serves the following line destinations:
- Aklavik (number of flights depending on demand)
- Fort McPherson (only if the "Ice Road" is closed or the ferry is out of service)
- Inuvik, Norman Wells, Paulatuk, Sachs Harbor, Tuktoyaktuk (depending on requirements), Ulukhaktok.
