Zoom Airlines was a Canadian scheduled airline operating from Canada to the UK , Northern Ireland and France . On August 28, 2008, the airline announced the cessation of flight operations due to the high oil price .

history

The airline was founded in May 2002, with headquarters in Ottawa . In addition to scheduled flights, Zoom also flies charter flights to the Caribbean and the southern United States of America . Furthermore, a subsidiary was founded in Great Britain in order to fly to other destinations from there. The aim was to connect Canada with Great Britain, France and the Caribbean in a combination of scheduled and charter flights.

In addition to the normal economy class , Zoom also offered a premium economy class.

After one aircraft was seized in Calgary (Canada) and one in Glasgow (United Kingdom) and no more fuel could be paid for, Zoom Airlines filed for bankruptcy on August 29, 2008. Flight operations ceased a day earlier.

Zoom Airlines flew eight airports in Canada to London ( Gatwick ), Glasgow , Manchester , Cardiff , Belfast and Paris ( Charles de Gaulle International Airport ).

Zoom Airlines and the British subsidiary recently deployed two Boeing 757-200s and five Boeing 767-300ERs . A used Boeing 757-200 was also ordered from ILFC .
