The company was founded in 2001 to be able to offer a no-frills service on some Air Canada routes ; The aim was to reduce the company's costs. Air Canada Tango was based in Toronto and operated flights between cities such as Toronto, Ottawa , Montreal , Calgary and Vancouver, as well as some vacation destinations in the US and Mexico such as Fort Lauderdale , Seattle , Tampa and Mexico City . The airline was founded in November 2001 with a fleet of 12 Airbus A320s and nine Boeing 737-200s , although flight operations were discontinued in 2004.
Air Canada continues to use the name "Tango" for the cheapest price range.

The Air Canada Tango fleet consisted of 13 Airbus A320s and 6 Boeing 737-200s . Air Canada Tango aircraft only had an economy class configuration , later a business class similar to normal Air Canada flights was introduced and the aircraft were painted purple.
Trivia
The name is an abbreviation for "Tan and Go", which should represent the planned service to winter destinations. In 2002 a music theme was chosen for the regional brand Air Canada Jazz .
