The German-language first broadcast took place on May 15, 2009 on SF two .

action

The series is about the Strategic Response Unit (SRU), a fictional tactical special police unit in the Canadian city of Toronto , similar to the real emergency task force of the Toronto Police Service .

The SRU is tasked with solving extreme situations for which the regular police forces are not appropriately trained and equipped: hostage-taking , bomb threats and heavily armed criminals are common operations. The unit is well equipped with explosives , tasers , submachine guns , assault rifles and sniper rifles as well as acoustic and visual monitoring and listening technology. However, intuition , judgment and negotiation skills are among the first tools in solving the situation.

The perpetrators are rarely “regular” criminals, but mostly ordinary people who are led to their actions by extreme situations.

Charisma

Canada

When it first aired in the summer of 2008, Flashpoint reached around 1.1 million viewers on CTV in Canada and around 8.13 million in the United States on CBS, making it the most successful program of the evening. The series has now been extended for a second season, which aired between January 9 and September 25, 2009. Production for a further 13 episodes began in January 2010. The third season has been aired since July 16, 2010.

The broadcaster CTV announced on June 3, 2010 at its program presentation for the 2010/2011 season that Flashpoint would receive a fourth season. Although the fourth season had not yet started, CTV announced the production of a fifth season. The series was discontinued after the fifth season. The last season aired from September 20 to December 13, 2012.

United States

As a result of the American screenwriters' strike, CBS bought the series. CBS always wanted to broadcast the series at the same time as CTV in Canada, but CBS found no more loopholes in the program after the strike. On July 9, 2010, CBS began broadcasting the third season in the USA , which Swiss television had already broadcast since June 2010. Thus, for the first time in the history of the station, Swiss television began broadcasting a Canadian series in German-speaking countries before it was first broadcast in the USA.

Germany

In 2009 the first season of Flashpoint ran on the German pay TV channel 13th Street . The second season has been running there since June 2010 and the fourth since May 2012.

On German free TV, RTL II took over the broadcast of the series from May 6, 2010, every Thursday at 8:15 p.m. During the soccer world championship 2010, RTL II interrupted the broadcast after the episode Am Abgrund for 2 weeks. The second season followed immediately from July 22nd on the same slot until RTL 2 canceled the series unannounced on October 21st with episode 29 (16th episode of the second season). Episodes 19, 20, 22, 25, 26 and 28 had previously been left out without giving a reason, which made it much more difficult for the viewer to develop the characters in the second season. When the missing episodes will be broadcast has not yet been announced. From December 23, 2013, the fifth and so far last season ran on Wednesdays at 12:35 am on RTL II.

Austria

ORF eins began broadcasting the first season on May 5, 2010. The series will be broadcast on Wednesday as a follow-up to the main evening program. From August 4, 2010, the successful series on ORF one after the broadcast episode For the Protection of Evil was canceled for the time being.

Switzerland

SF two broadcasts Flashpoint - The Special Command as a free TV premiere and exclusively in two-channel sound in German / English. Between May 15 and August 14, 2009, the entire first and the first three episodes of the second season were broadcast on Fridays at 8:50 p.m. Another seven episodes were broadcast irregularly between December 18, 2009 and April 2, 2010. Since May 26th, the remaining episodes of the second season have been broadcast on Wednesday evening at 11:10 p.m. The third season of Flashpoint - The Special Command will also take over SF two from June 16, 2010 at around 11:25 p.m. as a free TV premiere. The third season ran every Wednesday evening at around 11:20 pm during the 2010 World Cup. After the World Cup, it ran again every Wednesday evening at around 10:30 pm. The broadcast of the third season ended on August 11, 2010.

Season 4 has been running on SF two since January 16, 2012.

  • Season 2.2 was released in Canada on November 2, 2010
  • Season 3 was released in Canada on May 22, 2012
  • Season 4 was released in Canada on October 16, 2012
  • Season 5 was released in Canada on May 7, 2013

German-speaking area

  • Season 1 was released on May 28, 2010.
  • Season 2 was released on October 1, 2010.
  • Season 3 was released on May 27, 2011.
  • Season 4 was released on December 2, 2011.
  • Season 5 was released on December 14, 2012.
  • Season 6 was released on March 22, 2013.
  • Season 7 was released on June 14, 2013.

Season 2 was released split, once as season 2 with the 9 episodes of season 2.1 and once as season 3 with the remaining 9 episodes of season 2.2.

Season 4 contains all 13 episodes of the third season. The DVD box contains episodes 32–44 accordingly.

Season 5 contains episodes 1-10 of the fourth season. The DVD box will contain episodes 45-54, with the exception of episode 8 Fatal Stopover , ie episode 52. This is missing on the DVD.

Season 6 contains episodes 11-18 and 10-18 of the fourth season. This means that the episodes 55-62 and 54-62 are included on the DVD box. The reason for the discrepancy in the sequence of the episodes is the omission of episode 8, Fatal Stopover of season 5. Since this was inserted in the DVD box of season 6, there are episodes on the DVDs. Episode 8 Fatal Landing , which was missing from season 5, can now be found as episode 12 on this DVD box. Next, episode 16 team player was brought forward to episode 14 on the DVD box. Season 6 thus includes nine episodes.

Season 7 contains episodes 63-75 of the regular fifth and final season.

  • In Germany, the first season consists of 13 episodes, exactly as many as in the USA and Switzerland.
