Dominic Haakon Myrtvedt Purcell (born February 17, 1970 in Wallasey , Cheshire , England ) is an Australian actor .

Life

Dominic Purcell has a Norwegian father and an Irish mother. In 1972 the family moved from England to Sydney , Australia . Purcell was trained as a landscape architect and later decided to study at the drama schools The Australian Theater for Young People and the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts . He made his debut in 1997 on the Australian television series RAW FM . In the television film The President's Daughter: In Deadly Peril (1999) he starred alongside Mariel Hemingway and Monica Keena , in the film Mission: Impossible II (2000) he starred alongside Tom Cruise .

In 2000 Purcell received the green card and was able to travel to the United States . He played the leading role in the television film John Doe and in the later television series of the same name. In Blade: Trinity (2004) he played alongside Wesley Snipes and Kris Kristofferson . From 2005 to 2009 he played the lead role of inmate Lincoln Burrows in the US television series Prison Break . The series ended with a fifth season in 2017.

Purcell has four children with his wife Rebecca (* 1999, 2001 and 2003). The couple lived in Los Angeles until they separated . Purcell was dating AnnaLynne McCord from 2011 to 2014 .
