Alfred Molina
Alfredo "Alfred" Molina (born May 24, 1953 in London , England ) is a British actor . He is the son of a Spaniard and an Italian and was married to actress Jill Gascoine until their death in April 2020 .
Life
After studying at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, Molina first played theater. He has appeared in the plays The Night of the Iguana by Tennessee Williams and The Favor of the Hour by David Mamet, among others. He made his first film appearance in 1981 in the opening sequence of the Indiana Jones film Raiders of the Lost Ark in the role of the jungle guide Satipo . From this point on he was, so to speak, the “foreigner just in case”, because in the course of his career he played French, Iranians, Russians, British, Cubans, Spaniards or Mexicans. In each of these roles he was convincing, which he himself attributed to his multicultural upbringing in an interview.
Each of his roles gave Molina special character traits. A jealous gay friend, he slew Joe Orton ( Gary Oldman ) in The Stormy Life of Joe Orton , in Not Without My Daughter he beat his wife Sally Field to read the Quran , and in Boogie Nights he portrayed a mad dealer. In 2002, Molina starred in the two - time Oscar - winning film Frida , in which he played the Mexican painter Diego Rivera alongside Salma Hayek . Other well-known roles are that of super villain Dr. Octavius in the movie Spider-Man 2 and that of Bishop Aringarosa in The Da Vinci Code .
In addition to appearances in films, Molina was and is often seen in US television series . In 2010 and 2011 he played a leading role in the series Law & Order: LA . He was also seen in 2012 for three episodes in the series Harry's Law . He also appeared in The Company - On behalf of the CIA , Monk , Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Miami Vice .
Dubbing voice
In Germany, Molina is mostly dubbed by Bernd Rumpf . The attempt to establish Roland Hemmo as his German voice failed. In Spider-Man 2 there was a two-part cast, because here in the computer game - resulting from Molina's cast in the film - Bernd Rumpf could be heard in the role of Doc Ock , while Molina was spoken by Roland Hemmo in the film.
