Alexandra Shipp (born July 16, 1991 in Phoenix , Arizona ) is an American actress and singer .

life and career

Alexandra Shipp was born in July 1991 in Phoenix , Arizona . She moved to Los Angeles at the age of 17 to pursue her acting career. Her first acting role was as Valentina in Alvin and the Chipmunks 2 in 2009 . This was followed by guest roles in Switched at Birth and Victorious . She became famous in 2013 for the lead role of KT Rush in the third season of the Mystery Soap House of Anubis .

In the fall of 2014, Shipp slipped into the role of the late R&B singer Aaliyah for the Lifetime television film Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B , based on the bestselling Aaliyah: More Than A Woman by Christopher Farley. The role was previously cast with the actress Zendaya , but she left the project. In January 2015 she was hired for the role of Storm in the seventh part of the X-Men film series , X-Men: Apocalypse .

In addition to acting, she is also employed as a singer. She released her first EP in autumn 2014.
