Awkward - My so-called life (Original title: Awkward. ) Is an American dramedy series, which was broadcast for the first time on July 19, 2011 on MTV and was discontinued on May 24, 2016 after five seasons. The series is about Jenna Hamilton ( Ashley Rickards ) and her friends during and after high school .

action

season 1

Outsider Jenna Hamilton is an inconspicuous 15-year-old student at an American high school. The young person would like to be noticed more by her environment - especially by boys - but primarily by her crush Matty McKibben. At summer camp, she eventually loses her virginity to Matty. The common happiness does not want to set in the episode, however, because Jenna's lover avoids her in public.

She expresses her feelings almost every day in her blog , which initially has hardly any readers. However, this changes when one day she has an accident in the bathroom. Friends and family react in horror and immediately believe in a failed suicide attempt. Jenna tries to deny this in vain. Gradually, however, she finds pleasure in her enormously increased level of awareness, as many of her classmates include her from now on. So does Matty's best friend Jake, who falls in love with Jenna and woos her later in the plot - although he is in a relationship with Lissa.

season 2

Jenna is now firmly with Jake, but Matty admits that she still has feelings for her and tries to win her back. At his request, Jenna doesn't tell Jake about their previous relationship, as Matty is afraid of losing his best friend as a result. Tamara breaks up with Ricky because she caught him with another. Jenna now also knows that the anonymous letter from the beginning of the first season was written by her mother, Lacey. After Lacey admitted this to her husband Kevin, he moved out.

Jake finds out that Matty and Jenna had something together. Jake breaks up with her, even though she loves him. When Jake tries to talk to Jenna again, he sees her and Matty kissing, causing him to be pretty hurt. Matty and Jake have an argument at school, which leads to a fight. The two boys decide to forgive each other because they want to keep their friendship and not give up because of a girl. You give Jenna a choice: Jake or Matty. Jenna publishes her blog and again she is the number one topic of conversation, but with this she not only exposes herself, but also Matty, Jake and their mother. Jenna chooses Matty. At a party, Jenna's best friend Tamara has something with Jake. At first Jenna is angry, but then she forgives her.

season 3

Since Jenna and Matty stayed in the US during the summer vacation, they had little contact with Jake, Tamara and Ming, who were vacationing in Europe. Jenna now has to find out that Tamara and Jake have taken their love to a new level in France and are now officially a couple. While Tamara only has eyes for Jake and Ming tries to keep her relationship with Fred Wu a secret from the "Asian Mafia", Jenna feels more and more excluded.

Meanwhile, Sadie has to deal with the fact that her parents are broke. She seems nervous about her worries about money and starts to eat a lot. Since this often makes her feel sick and vomits, it doesn't take long before the school rumors that Sadie is pregnant. Coincidentally, Jenna has the same problem. However, she soon struggles to take a pregnancy test, which comes back negative. However, she hides the result and the fact that Jenna thought she was pregnant from Matty. When Ricky Schwartz dies unexpectedly, everyone initially suspects Sadie, who suffers a lot from the allegations, but tries not to show anything. Matty, however, realizes that life is short and now wants to enjoy life to the fullest and have as much sex as possible. Jenna, who thought she was pregnant a few days ago, then initially takes a distance and then decides to have the pill prescribed for her. When her dad finds the pill in the bathroom, he calls Matty's parents to tell them that their son is sleeping with his daughter. When the McKibbens then come to debate, there is a scandal. Because of the argument with his parents, Matty moves in with Jenna, but this does not last.

After a while, Jenna starts a relationship with her classmate Collin. Through this relationship, Jenna destroys her relationship with all of her friends and Matty. Matty and Jenna break up but still have feelings for each other, which can be seen at the end of the season. Valerie Marks is fired through a story written by Jenna, which is only partially true. Jenna changes a lot after a while. When she sees that Collin is still sleeping with his ex, she breaks up and realizes that she has lost all of her friends. Little by little, however, she builds up a better relationship with them again. She can bring Valerie back to school.

Season 4

After her chaotic last year and the drama with Matty, Jenna now wants to focus on her future. She is in her senior year of high school and is looking for a suitable college. But then she finds out that Matty is no longer with Bailey and has spent the summer alone and the two end up in bed together. The next day Jenna is unsure of the status of their relationship and the two agree to be Friends with Benefits. Tamara and Jake's relationship breaks up when Jake learns that Tamara has never had an orgasm and that she becomes too addicted to control. In order to stay close to him, Tamara invents a fictional character named Autumn and chats with Jake. Matty finds out he has been adopted and reveals the news to Jenna. Instead of talking about it, Matty just wants sex, which Jenna can't handle. Matty then replaces Jenna with the new girl at the school, Eva.

When Jenna and Tamara attend a potential college, Jenna meets and loves student Luke. Jake finds out that Tamara just tricked him with the chat profile and is pissed off. Matty reveals to the whole school that he is adopted. When he sees Jenna and Luke together, he is jealous. To prove to herself that she's got over Matty, she wants to set him up with Eva. There is a real cat-fight between Sadie and Eva after Eva blackmailed her with a photo of her and Matty. Eva tries at every opportunity to make Jenna bad for Matty and to destroy the friendship between the two for good. The war culminated when the entire senior year went on a ski vacation. Luke surprises Jenna with a visit, but breaks up with her when he realizes how attached she is to Matty. Jenna only tries to warn Matty about Eva, because Sadie has found out that she is not who she appears to be, but a compulsive liar who tries everything to keep Matty away from his friends. Eva ends up surprising everyone by claiming she is pregnant. When Sadie and Jenna ask for proof, she blatantly reveals a positive pregnancy test.

After Luke breaks up with Jenna and Eva still pretends to be pregnant, Jenna wants to focus on her future again. In fact, a short time later Matty finds out that Eva is not pregnant at all. He blackmailed her into disappearing from his life forever and apologized to Jenna. The two want to be friends again, but Jenna, as always, hopes for more. The two want to meet at midnight at a New Year's Eve party, but when someone says that Matty ran away with an older woman, Jenna makes out with Owen and later learns that she deflowered him. When she learns that Matty has only made up with his mother, she feels guilty. Then there is also the fact that Tamara is also interested in Owen, which leads to a temporary crisis between the two. Meanwhile, Lissa tries to get her father to come out so that she can be with her stepbrother Tyler. Plus, it's still pending on whether or not Jenna was accepted into college. When her mother gets a place, she is pissed off at first, but is then happy for her.

Despite being jealous, Jenna helps Matty's new friend Gabby throw a surprise party for Matty. In the end, feelings of friendship really develop. But when Matty comes to visit her after the party and the two kiss, Jenna feels guilty about Gabby. For the spring break, the whole group goes to a Beach House in Rosarito. Because Gabby found out about the kiss, she did not go. Matty wants to take the opportunity to find his birth father here. He asks Jenna for support, who is happy to help, but then Gabby unexpectedly shows up. Jenna is finally accepted into college and meets a soldier on the beach after Matty rebuffs her. When Jake gets a rejection from Northwestern College, he ends up in bed with Gabby. At the same time, Matty realizes that he still has feelings for Jenna and goes looking for her. But Jenna's mother tells him that he had his chance and should let her go. Matty sadly watches Jenna and the soldier on the beach. Jenna learns that her mother is pregnant.

Season 5

In the last few weeks before graduation, the friends want to enjoy their last time together. During the elders pranks at the school, Jenna learns of Gabby's cheating, but says nothing for Matty's benefit. During his visit, Jenna finds that she is no longer as in love with the soldier as she was on vacation and they go their separate ways by mutual agreement. After Gabby learns that Matty wanted to break up with her because of his feelings for Jenna, she dumps him and tells him that she slept with Jake. Matty gets mad at him and Jenna for hiding it from him. Jake is now officially dating Gabby, which leads to a big argument between him and Matty. Through some remarks during a confrontation with Jake, Matty makes himself unpopular with all his classmates and is shunned by them. Meanwhile, Jenna is popular as the school closes due to an accident she caused.

Tamara got engaged to the soldier Adam on a whim. However, she tells Jenna that she has known her fiancé too briefly to actually marry him. Tamara says she wants to break off the engagement, but continues to plan her wedding. Since Jenna does not secretly believe in the existence of the love of Tamara and Adam, she tells everyone that Tamara does not love her fiancé and wants to separate from him. Then Tamara realizes that she really loves him. While Tamara drives to her ex-fiancé to clarify everything, Jenna thinks about something Tamara said. Jenna wonders if she is sabotaging relationships herself. She also knows from Gabby that Matty loves her, but she doesn't know if she does too. While Tamara is rejected by her ex, Jenna realizes that she has never stopped loving Matty and that all of her relationships have broken down as a result. Jenna and Matty get back together at prom, even though they both go to different colleges on the other side of the country.

After the first year of college, everyone is back. Matty and Jenna split because Matty wanted to join Jenna in college, which Jenna is not thrilled about. Plus, Jake and Lissa are a couple again. Jake works as a manager in the country club and Lissa quit college to become a housewife and works as a nanny for Lacey and Kevin. Tamara and Sadie grew closer during college and became good friends. In the summer Jenna starts an internship, which her ex-boyfriend Luke got her. The two get back together, and Jenna writes an article about her breakup with Matty. Matty gets off badly in the article, however, as it was shortened without Jenna's knowledge, whereupon she removed it from the network. When the camp, where Jenna lost her virginity to Matty, is about to be closed, the whole clique goes there again for a farewell party. There Matty learns that Jenna wants to move to SCU to be with Luke. He then meets with her in the closet and tells her to make up her mind. In the end, the two of them come back together. However, it is not clear whether Matty gave her a ring that he acquired at the camp at the beginning of the episode.
