Ashley Rickards (born May 4, 1992 in Sarasota , Florida ) is an American actress .

Life

Ashley Rickards attended a Polish course and graduated from high school with honors. She began to develop an interest in acting in middle school when she had to attend the opera course there. In addition to acting, she is also interested in film production and scriptwriting . She also trains horses for animal-assisted therapy .

At the beginning of her acting career, Rickards had a few guest appearances on series such as CSI: NY , Zoey 101 and Alles Betty! . She became known in her permanent role in the series One Tree Hill as Samantha Walker . In 2011 she made the film Fly Away , in which she plays an autistic girl. For this, Rickards received the Reel Frontier Special Jury Award for Best Representation at the Arizona International Film Festival 2011 . Also in 2011 she was seen in a supporting role in the first season of the horror series American Horror Story . For her role in Sassy Pants , Rickards was nominated for Best Actress at the 2012 Milano International Film Festival .

Since 2011 she has played the lead role of Jenna Hamilton in the MTV series Awkward - My so-called life , for which she received a nomination for best actress in a comedy series at the Critics' Choice Television Awards 2012 . She received another nomination in the Choice Summer TV Star: Female category at the 2012 Teen Choice Awards . In 2014, Rickards first directed the Listen to This (4x02) episode of the series . She directed the fifth episode of the fifth season again.
