action

Marnie Watson kills her abusive husband Mike Watson, a police officer, in self-defense. After her initial detention, she is serving a conditional suspended sentence with house arrest. An electronic shackle controls whether she is within the 100 feet (approx. 30 m) from her house.

Marnie Watson is haunted in her home by the ghost of her slain husband, who continues to torture and beat her. Meanwhile, Watson's former police colleague Lou Shanks waits near the house for Marnie to violate her condition, after which he could arrest her. When he sees Marnie's injuries, he suspects that Marnie is covering the real killer and that the real killer has come back to make sure she continues to cover him.

She meets Joey, who works in the supermarket around the corner and delivers her orders, and becomes friends with him. He brings her books from the library about ghosts that Marnie uses to drive her husband out of the house. To do this, she has to bring all of his objects out of the house. One night Marnie is on the phone with Joey, who then stands in front of her window and wants to be let in by her. Marnie gives in to his wish and then has sex with Joey. Her husband is watching. The next morning he beats Joey to death in front of Marnie.

Shortly thereafter, Shanks appears with an arrest warrant for Joey and demands to be allowed inside. Marnie hides Joey's body under a pretext in a secret passage under the floorboards of the bedroom on the first floor, where her husband had hidden a lot of money. When Marnie and her husband's colleague stand under Joey's corpse on the first floor and it breaks through the ceiling, her husband's ghost appears, attacks both of them and sets the house on fire. Before the house goes up in flames, Marnie throws her husband her wedding ring , which she still wore on her finger. Her husband then takes human form and explodes. Marnie is let go because she saved Shanks' life and is no longer wearing her ankle cuffs, with which she could have been recognized. The newspaper says that she died in the fire after saving the life of the policeman.
