René Ōhashi

René Ōhashi is a Canadian cameraman .

Life

René Ōhashi is of Japanese descent. He grew up in Toronto . He worked as a salesman in a photography store before studying at York University in 1970 . After graduating in 1976, he worked as a camera assistant before making his debut as chief cameraman in 1981 with the television drama Clown White, directed by Paul Shapiro . Since then he has established himself as a cameraman and has often been nominated and awarded for several film awards. From 1986 to 2007 he was nominated 11 times for the Gemini Awards , with nine awards. He has been nominated 17 times for the Canadian Society of Cinematographers Awards , including six awards.
