Jane Adams (born April 1, 1965 in Washington, DC ) is an American actress .

Life

Jane Adams played a lot of theater when she was young, but had no plans to make acting a profession, but applied to the Cornish Institute in Seattle with a major in political science . There, however, she also took a few acting courses and finally moved to the Juilliard School in New York City .

At first, in addition to some roles in television films , she mainly had success on stage. For their roles in the Broadway -Stück I Hate Hamlet she got shortly after their completion, Outer Critics Circle Award and was nominated for the Drama Desk Award nomination. From then on she was active in the New York theater scene for several years. Her biggest Broadway hit was the role of Sheila Birling in An Inspector's Call . She received a Tony Award and a Drama Desk Award for this.

Even during her theater career, Jane Adams often traveled to Los Angeles to advance her career as a film actress. At first she got only small supporting roles in films like I Love Trouble (1994) or Father of the Bride 2 (1995). The breakthrough came in her 1998 with the film Happiness by Todd Solondz as the depressive Joy Jordan. She then received other roles such as teacher in Songcatcher (2000) and Claire in Relationships and Other Disasters (2001).

After her role in Orange County in 2002 , she disappeared from the film business for a while, but returned in 2004 with a supporting role in Forget Mine Not! back to the canvas.

Since 2016 she has been playing increasingly recurring roles in television series such as Easy , Twin Peaks , Sneaky Pete and Claws .
