Berry Thompson, mother of two, is a drug addict. She goes to the hospital because of the overdose. Berry's sister Emilie takes care of the children.
A court orders that Emilie should hand over the children. Shortly before Christmas, she and the children flee to the small town of Bethlehem, where they live under the false identity. You will be happy there.
Police officer Nathan Bishop distrusts Emilie, but realizes that she is not on any wanted list. Later he finds the woman attractive.
One day the correct identity of the refugees is discovered.
