content

The series follows three mothers from Detroit - sisters Beth and Annie and the waitress Ruby - who can barely make ends meet financially.

Ruby works in a diner, her husband as a security guard in the shopping center. Her critically ill daughter urgently needs medication that costs $ 10,000 a month and has to be paid for out of pocket by her parents.

Beth, mother of four, accidentally learns of her husband's affair through a credit card charge at a lingerie store. It also turns out that his dealership is about to go bankrupt and they may lose the house due to mortgage debt.

Annie, Beth's younger sister, is a supermarket cashier and lives alone with her daughter, who is bullied at school. The father and his new partner apply for custody because they could offer the girl a good financial life.

Because of the financial worries that plague each of the three in their own way, they decide to rob the supermarket where Annie works. After that, they discover that their prey is far higher than the expected $ 30,000. In fact, there was half a million dollars in the safe.

Her successful heist attracts the store manager's attention after recognizing Annie by her tattoo. He tries to blackmail Annie and make her have sex. When she defends herself against the attack in her apartment, her sister comes to her aid and knocks the blackmailer out. The sisters tie him up and take him to the tree house in Beth's garden until they know what to do with him.

But not only the manager noticed the three. The money launderer Rio also appears on the scene and wants his money back. The only problem is that a significant part of the money is already missing and the women don't know how to get the rest. Eventually they decide to demand a ransom from his grandmother for the man who is still bound in the tree house. Since they cannot reach her by phone, they drive to the woman and pretend to be domestic help in order to rob her. But Beth doesn't have the heart to steal from the old lady. Only Annie took a few porcelain figures with her, which turned out to be extremely valuable.

When Rio shows up again at Beth's, the women want to give him the figures as money replacement. He freaks out and Beth is threatened with a gun. Eventually the gangsters disappear with no prey. In the meantime, the branch manager was able to escape. However, since he is still tied up, the women quickly catch up with him. Annie opens his pants and takes a picture with his cell phone. She threatens him and says that she sent her daughter's picture and that if he went to the police, she would also go to the police.

Since the debt has still not been paid, Rio shows up again at Beth's and tells her the three of them should pick up a package for him in Canada on Friday. This would have paid off all debts. When they realize that they have smuggled counterfeit money out of Canada, they offer to exchange it for real money by shopping in department stores and then returning the purchases. The three inevitably slide further and further into criminal acts.
