Michael Penn (born August 1, 1958 in Greenwich Village , New York City ) is an American musician.

Career

Michael Penn became famous for his debut album March , which was released at the end of 1989 , in particular for the single No Myth , which made it to number 13 in the US charts . The albums Free for all , Resigned and MP4 (Days Since A Lost Time Accident) followed . In August 2005 his latest album was released, entitled Mr. Hollywood Jr., 1947 .

Penn has also composed film scores, including a. for Paul Thomas Anderson's films Hard Eight and Boogie Nights . He also composed the music for the television series Masters of Sex . In the movie Boogie Nights , he played the music engineer Nick.

Private

His father Leo Penn was a director , his mother Eileen Ryan an actress. His younger brother Sean is an internationally known actor, his brother Chris , who died in 2006, was also an actor. He has been married to the singer Aimee Mann since 1997 .
