Sam Huntington (born April 1, 1982 in Peterborough , New Hampshire ) is an American actor .

Life

Huntington is the son of a self-employed carpenter and actress who is also her son's teacher and manager . He also has a younger sister. Huntington's great-uncle is Oscar winner Ralph Bellamy , who bequeathed the Oscar statue to him on his death in 1991.

His career began at the age of nine when he starred in the children's theater The Black Box , directed by his mother . Huntington was also part of the ensemble at Andy's Summer Playhouse in Wilton for three summers . At Franklin Pierce College in Rindge he was also active in school theater.

Despite his success on stage, Huntington always wanted to become popular as a film actor. So he moved with his mother to New York City for a year , where he completed 7th grade at the renowned Professional Children's School and became a good friend of Macaulay Culkin .

He made his film debut in 1996 in a supporting role in The Embers of Violence . But just a year later, in 1997, he got his first leading role, which was to become his best known. He embodied the Indian boy Mimi-Siku at the side of Tim Allen in From the jungle, into the jungle . It earned praise from Sarah Ferguson , Duchess of York , who happened to be in New York , as well as a nomination for the Saturn Award . Two years later he received a YoungStar Award nomination for his part in the comedy Detroit Rock City .

Since then he has been in front of the camera in various films and television series . Among other things, he starred in the leading role of Josh Levison in the Syfy series Being Human from 2011 to 2014 . He also had the two-part guest role of Luke Haldeman in the first season of the series Veronica Mars . He embodied this role in 2014 in the sequel of the same name .

In August 2012, Huntington married his girlfriend, actress Rachel Klein. The couple have two children.
